Escape from The Taliban – A long and dangerous journey for a better future 

Mohammed Naseri and his wife Zakia were employed in high-risk positions when the United States withdrew troops from Afghanistan. Mohammed taught Robotics and Physics to high schoolers. Zakia worked for an American organization. In the days following the removal of all troops, they learned that the Taliban were searching all the houses. If they found anything in the home written in English, they would often shoot someone on the spot, not allowing any explanation. Even after burning documents, Mohammed and Zakia didn’t feel safe.

Come listen to their harrowing journey out of Afghanistan with their newborn daughter, Helia. Despite the tumultuous path they traveled, this family, along with many other Afghan immigrants, arrived in the United States with a dream – a dream of building a better future for themselves and their families. This dream, fueled by the hope and desire for a life free from fear, is what propels them forward, even in the face of adversities they continue to experience.

After hearing their story, you will come away with a great appreciation of the blessing of being born in the United States.
